That just happened...

I'm not really sure where 1:42:38 (7:47 pace) came from, but that really just happened.

I'm not sure if it was misplaced frustration, pre-race truffle fries, or just shear stubbornness not to give up, but I ran my tail of yesterday.

I went into the race with plenty of fitness, but not speed. I had planned on starting with the 1:45 pace group and would just see how long I could hang on. I found my good friend Donna at the start and we we decided to run in b/t the 1:40 & 1:45 pace groups. Why the hell not. I really didn't have anything to lose.

My mental strength really surprised me. I kept thinking, why start off so strong and 'waste' that effort by slowing down towards the end? Was I actually finally embracing the pain and RACING???

I didn't leave anything out on the course. I gave it all I had, which was a lot more than I thought!
